Mission Overview
In this mission, students learn Psalm 145:9 and encounter the biblical name Yahweh. Molly explains that Yahweh is a special name used for God in Scripture and helps children consider the goodness and compassion of the Creator. The verse emphasizes that God’s goodness is not narrow or selfish: His tender mercies extend over all He has made.
Students practice saying the verse aloud and are invited to notice evidence of God’s care in people, animals, plants, and the created world. Following the episode, they may answer comprehension questions and recite the verse to a parent, grandparent, or other family member for verification and bonus recognition.

Biblical Worldview Integration
Psalm 145 celebrates God’s greatness, goodness, compassion, and faithful care. The world is not presented as an accident without meaning; it is God’s workmanship. Because creation belongs to Him, every part of it depends upon His sustaining care.
The statement that “Yahweh is good to all” does not mean that every moment of life feels easy or that nothing painful ever happens. It teaches that God’s character is good and that His mercy is evident throughout His works. Children can begin to recognize this goodness in daily provision, loving relationships, the beauty of creation, and especially in God’s saving love.
This truth also shapes behavior. People who receive God’s mercy should become more merciful. Gratitude for creation should lead to responsible care rather than wastefulness or cruelty.
Primary Biblical Themes
- Yahweh is the Creator and Lord.
- God’s character is good.
- God’s tender mercy extends over all His works.
- Creation displays God’s care and invites our gratitude.
- God’s people should reflect His compassion toward others.
Mission Learning Sequence
- Teacher Introduction: The Guide introduces Psalm 145:9 and prepares students to listen for the meaning of the name Yahweh.
- Instructional Stage: Students watch Molly present and explain the verse.
- Repeat and Remember: Students repeat the verse in short phrases and then as a whole.
- Challenge: Students answer questions about God’s name, goodness, mercy, and creation.
- Recitation Check: Students recite Psalm 145:9 to a parent, grandparent, or family member.
- Mission Completion: Parent verification, when applicable, awards the cross and bonus coins along with normal mission progress.
Assessment Methods
Students demonstrate understanding through: - Multiple-choice or true/false questions - Identification of Yahweh as a name for God - Explanation of the phrases “good to all” and “tender mercies” - Oral repetition and recitation - Parent or family-member verification - Naming one example of God’s goodness in creation or daily life
Parent Partnership
The name Yahweh deserves careful and reverent treatment. Explain simply that it is the personal covenant name by which God made Himself known in Scripture. Younger students do not need a technical discussion of Hebrew; the main point is that the God who made all things is personal, faithful, and good.
Invite your child to name specific examples of God’s goodness rather than giving only a general answer. Examples may include food, rain, sunlight, family, friends, animals, beauty, abilities, comfort, or the gift of Scripture. Keep the discussion grounded in gratitude without implying that material comfort is the only evidence of God’s goodness.
When your child recites the verse, pause to celebrate both memory and meaning. Ask, “What does this verse teach us about God?”
