Mission Overview

Mission 7 takes the PicTrain to the farm, where children practice spelling words such as COW and HORSE. The combination of animal imagery, repeated letter names, and familiar animal sounds strengthens word recall and alphabet knowledge. The mission also opens an age-appropriate discussion of farms, transportation, and the work required to bring food and materials to communities.

This Parent & Teacher Mission Guide is designed for use after or alongside the PicTrain video. Adjust the pace, level of independence, and amount of repetition to fit the child. Young learners may demonstrate understanding orally, through movement, with manipulatives, or by pointing rather than through written work.

Mission Learning Sequence

1. Prepare

• Name familiar farm animals and imitate their sounds.
• Show the written words COW and HORSE.
• Invite the child to listen for the first and last letter of each word.

2. Watch and Participate

• Spell each word aloud with the narrator.
• Tap or clap once per letter.
• Point out that COW has three letters and HORSE has five.
• Connect each word to the correct animal image.

3. Review and Apply

• Spell COW and HORSE again.
• Ask for the first letter of pig, sheep, cow, and horse.
• Sort animals by simple features such as feathers/fur or two legs/four legs, using only animals available.
• Discuss one useful product or task associated with farms.
